At Again, we believe the future of energy shouldn’t come at the expense of what we’ve already built. Every year, thousands of high-quality batteries are retired long before reaching the end of their usable life. We recover these cells from decommissioned electric vehicles and electronics, rigorously test them, and give them a second life in new, high-performance portable chargers.

Our products are designed with purpose: engineered for efficiency, reliability, and sustainability from the inside out. By keeping valuable materials in use and out of landfills, we reduce waste, strengthen the battery supply chain, and prove that circular design can power real-world innovation.

Where we started

Again began in 2020 at local Cincinnati art fairs, where we sold portable chargers using second-life batteries packaged in candy tins. What started as an early experiment quickly found an audience online, growing through Etsy and TikTok Shop to more than 2,000 sales.

In 2021, founder Jonah Mikesell began studying electrical engineering at The Ohio State University, continuing to develop Again alongside his coursework. The idea stayed the same: give used batteries a second life, but the ambition grew.

In 2024, the concept was recognized with Ohio State’s Best of Student Startups award, followed by a win at the 2025 President’s Buckeye Accelerator Finale. The support from these programs allowed Again to grow beyond a one-person operation, bringing on a small team and evolving the product far past its candy-tin origins.

Today, Again turns second-life batteries into thoughtfully designed, reliable products, raising the standard for what second life can be.

Where we are now

Today, Again builds portable chargers designed from the ground up around second-life batteries. Our current generation products combine carefully selected reclaimed cells with custom electronics and a form factor built for everyday reliability.

By testing, matching cells, and validating each pack as a complete system, we’re able to deliver consistent performance without compromise, proving that second-life energy can meet modern expectations for quality, safety, and usability.
